The correct bar length depends on your anatomy, piercing angle, jewellery style and whether the piercing is fully healed.

A bar that is too short may place pressure on the tissue, while one that is too long can move excessively or catch more easily. Measurements from another person or a similar-looking piercing may not be suitable for you.

If you do not already know your size, we recommend having the piercing measured professionally or asking us for guidance before ordering.

Ring diameter affects both comfort and the way the jewellery sits.

A smaller diameter creates a closer fit, while a larger diameter allows more space and movement. The correct size depends on the placement, anatomy, piercing position and the shape of the ring.

If you are replacing existing jewellery, check the internal diameter rather than measuring the outside edge of the ring.

Some placements and jewellery styles require specific anatomy.

Industrial piercings, certain navel styles and close-fitting rings are particularly dependent on the shape, depth and position of the piercing. Suitability cannot always be judged accurately from a product photograph alone.

We can offer general guidance remotely, but a full in-person assessment may be required for anatomy-dependent placements.

Threadless decorative ends and compatible posts are sold separately.

This allows you to select the gauge and length most suitable for your piercing. The decorative end must be paired with a compatible threadless post.

We can help with threadless compatibility, suitable post types, bar lengths, ring diameters and whether a particular design is likely to work for your placement.

Send us the product link together with any measurements or information you already have. Clear photographs may also help, although remote advice cannot replace an in-person anatomy assessment where one is needed.

Our fine jewellery collections primarily feature solid 14k gold in yellow, white and rose gold.

Selected BVLA designs may also be available in additional precious metals depending on the piece and custom-order options. The available metals will be shown on the individual product page or discussed during the bespoke process.

Custom BVLA jewellery is handmade to order in Los Angeles and typically takes approximately 8–12 weeks to complete.

More complex designs or unusual gemstone sourcing may take longer. We will confirm the expected lead time before your order enters production.

Once the design and price are finalised, a 20% deposit is required before production begins.

For hygiene and safety reasons, body jewellery is non-refundable once it has been dispatched.

We cannot resell jewellery that may have been opened, handled, tried on, fitted or worn. This does not affect your statutory rights if an item arrives faulty, damaged or incorrect.
